The Burro Mesa Fire is 100% contained, assisted in part by rain over the weekend. The fire officially burned 1,946 acres.
UPDATE Friday, August 12 @ 6 PM:
The wildfire that began on Burro Mesa in Big Bend National Park on Wednesday night has consumed 1600 acres and is now largely inactive. There are no closures and no threats. There have been 13 Diablos (Mexican firefighters) and 4 park crews that have managed the blaze.
Thursday, August 11 @ 10 AM:
There is a small grassland fire on Burro Mesa in Big Bend National Park. KRTS spoke to David Elkowitz, the Public Information Officer for Big Bend National Park. The fire began last night – due to natural lightning-related causes. The fire is at 100 acres. It is currently not a threat.
Local fire crews are working on it and monitoring it. This morning, they will come up with an analysis & strategy for battling it today. There are no closures of camp sites or roads, and there are no threats to structures.
