George Clinton, Prince Paul & Other Funk Royalty Visit Marfa Public Radio

Marfa Public Radio got a little spacey Tuesday night (June 18) when George Clinton, the funk extraordinaire, stopped by Groove Line, the R&B and funk show. DJ Leslie Wilkes “freaked out” when Marfa resident Maiya Keck brought in DJ/Producer Prince Paul, his son Paul Jr. to join her in-studio.
The guys came in to say a quick hello while they were in town. Even though it was “past his bedtime,” George posed for photos and recorded some promos. He was surprised to find that a small town like Marfa had “a real station.”

George Clinton is a multi-award winning funk pioneer, fusing his own blend of R&B and soul music. He was the frontman for '70s defining funk bands, Paraliment and Funkadelic, and then the '80s P-Funk All Stars. Prince Paul is a Grammy-winner producer and a founding member of Gravediggaz with The RZA of Wu-Tang Clan. He's produced acts such as De La Soul and Chris Rock.

Groove Line airs every Tuesday at 10 PM, right after Indie Kitty.
