The McDannald Ranch Fire

In late April, a wildfire sparked in far West Texas, burning through a few hundred acres at first. But because of the difficulty of reaching it (the fire burned in a hard-to-reach pocket of the Davis Mountains), the blaze soon spread.

From the first reports of the McDannald Ranch Fire to daily updates from fire crews, Marfa Public Radio brought live updates to listeners. Often we would break format, interrupting our scheduled news and music shows, to speak live with residents, fire officials and reporters.

In the attached file, you'll hear examples of Marfa Public Radio's breaking news coverage on the McDannald Ranch Fire.
