KRTS just spoke with Jim Fowler of the Fort Davis Volunteer Fire Department. Fowler confirmed that there is a fire near Mitre Peak in Brewster County side, about 3 miles South of the Mitre Peak Road. As of 4 PM, the fire had burned 40-50 acres. The Fort Davis VFD received a call about the fire around 3:25 PM. KRTS had received an alert from a citizen reporter at 3:10 PM.
As of 3:45 PM, crews from Fort Davis were in route to the scene, along with Texas Forest Service crews out of Alpine. Stay tuned for more here, or listen live at 93.5 FM or via the KRTS webstream.
