The Mitre Peak Fire is 1000 acres and burning in grass and brush about 12 miles south of Fort Davis. Resources include an air attack plane and two air tankers. As of last evening, two engines, two bulldozers, a water tanker and local volunteer fire departments were also on the scene. There were no threats or evacuations.
8 PM Update: Firefighters and air resources made good progress on the fire today. It is now 1,855 acres and 70 percent contained. Air resources included an air attack plane, three helicopters and four single-engine air tankers. Texas Forest Service crews, engines, bulldozers and a water tanker, and local fire departments were also on the scene.
Additionally, four single-engine air tankers and an air attack plane were assigned to the Lobo Fire in Presidio County. The fire started in grass and brushland about 24 miles west of Marfa. It is 158 acres and 75 percent contained. There were no threats or evacuations.
