Hear KRTS's Monday Report: Trooper Suspended

Early Sunday morning, the suspended Texas trooper, Patrick White, was allegedly involved in a hit-and-run incident and the subsequent cover-up of the incident. The unoccupied vehicle, which was rented to a visitor to Marfa, was struck on Highland Avenue, near the Hotel Paisano.

KRTS Reporter Lorne Matalon confirmed the investigation, speaking with the Texas Department of Safety in Austin. The investigation of the Marfa-based trooper is being led by the Presidio County Sheriff's Department, who will hand over results of the investigation to the County Attorney. Earlier today KRTS News spoke with Presidio County Sheriff Danny Dominguez on the status of the investigation.

Trooper White was off-duty and in his personal vehicle on early Sunday morning in Marfa when he was allegedly involved in a crash with the  vehicle and fled the scene. White is currently stationed in Marfa as a probationary Highway Patrol trooper. The Big Bend region of Texas has recently been used as a training grounds for new troopers.
