Tuesday: Brownout in Alpine

Electricity was off at Sul Ross State University and part of Alpine from 4 to 6:30 AM this morning. Some people were without electricity 2-3 hours, but mostly restored by 8 AM.

KRTS spoke to Fred Hernandez of AEP. A piece of wire failed on the SRSU campus. It operates on a ring system so they were able to isolate the load and identify that the wire failed in the chiller. The Student Center and Museum were the last buildings to have power restored. The chiller, which supplies AC & heat to the buildings, was not expected to be fixed until afternoon.

Sul Ross is currently on Spring Break.
