If you're in Presidio county and see smoke, it's from a fire on the Allison Ranch, about 25 miles south of Marfa. KRTS Marfa spoke to Marfa Volunteer Fire Department fire chief Gary Mitschke. According to Mitschke, the fire started as an unauthorized controlled burn earlier today, but has since started burning out of control.
As of 5 PM Wednesday, March 23, 2 brush trucks from the Marfa Volunteer Fire department were on the scene, with the Texas Forest Service on its way. Stay tuned to 93.5 FM for updates on the situation.
