In high school football news, the Fort Davis Indians (2-3) will host Midland Trinity (2-3) this Friday. Both teams are coming off a loss last Friday, with Midland suffering a particularly disappointing 1-0 loss against Water Valley. The Marfa Shorthorns (2-3) hit the road again to El Paso to take on Faith Christian Academy (1-4), the team’s fourth in a string of away games. The Horns will be back in Marfa next Friday, October 12, to take on El Paso Immanuel Christian School.
The Sul Ross Lobos travel to Mississippi College to take on the Choctaws. The Alpine Fightin’ Bucks football team will take a by week after a disappointing first loss of the season against Muleshoe last Friday.
Alpine’s Fightin’ Ladybucks volleyball squad proved resilient in their first district match on Tuesday (October 2), winning against Crane in the 5th set. The team, with a new lineup, heads to Kermit on Saturday. The Fort Davis Indians head to Dell City on Saturday, coming off a 3-set win against Marathon last Saturday and a loss to Marfa in 4 sets on Tuesday.
