In six-man football news, this past weekend saw the Marfa Shorthorns defeat the Sanderson Eagles 55-42 at Martin Field, a triumphant first win for the season and Marfa's first ever as a six-man team.
The Balmorhea Bears beat the El Paso Immanuel Christian Warriors 63-16 in Balmorhea, Fort Davis defeated Loraine 44-43, and Grandfalls-Royalty swept Fort Hancock, winning 58-8.
In other football news, the Alpine Fightin' Bucks varsity team defeated the Wink Wildcats 49-7, and the Sul Ross Lobos came up just short of a home-field win, losing 38-35 to Western New Mexico University.
The Alpine Lady Bucks volleyball team beat the Fort Davis Lady Indians earlier last week, bringing their record to 9-8.
