Children's Hour

This Saturday morning at 10 AM, our folk music host Ross Burns, will be playing children's folk music classics. 

Talk At Ten, weekdays at 10am & 6:30pm

On Monday, we talk about new media with Andrew Suber, editor of West Texas Weekly. On Tuesday, a discussion of meteorology, with Scott May of Marfa. On Wednesday, Chris Sauter, editor of Art Lies magazine. On Thursday, jazzman Ron Steinmann. On Friday, banjo player Rik Palieri.

Free Classical Concert - Live Broadcast

On Saturday night the 17th, pianist Sarah Rothenberg will be performing In A Landscape, with classical works by Frederic Chopin and John Cage, at the Crowley Theater in Marfa. This is a free event; doors open at 7 PM; the performance begins at 7:30 PM. The concert will be live broadcast at 93.5 FM. The concert is being hosted by Ballroom Marfa and Marfa Public Radio. (This week's interview with Sarah Rothenberg is being replayed Saturday at noon.)

Friday, hear at least 4 live interviews on busy KRTS. AT 9:30 AM, Marfa lawyer Dick DeGuerin on the acquittal of Billy Joe Shaver, at 10 AM, John DeMers, author of "Marfa Shadows," at 10:30 AM, artist Jarrod Beck, showing at Second Floor, and at 3:30 PM, members of the No Idea Festival, performing tonight at the Crowley Theater. The interview with Dick DeGuerin replays at 6:30 PM. Plus other Friday specials: Rock Til One, Science Friday, Latino USA, Texas Music Matters, and Generator.

Saturday concert preview

On Wednesday at 12:30 PM, during Classical Midday, local host Roseland Klein interviews acclaimed pianist Sarah Rothenberg, who will be performing In A Landscape, with classical works by Frederic Chopin and John Cage, at the Crowley Theater in Marfa. This is a free event; doors open at 7 PM. The concert is being hosted by Ballroom Marfa and Marfa Public Radio. (The interview will be replayed Saturday at noon.)

Local Election Results

In the run-off for Presidio County Judge, Paul Hunt defeats incumbent Jerry Agan. Hunt received 773 votes to Agan’s 400 votes. In the run-off for Presidio County Commissioner, Precinct 4, Frank “Buddy” Knight defeats Luis Madrid. Knight received 271 votes, while Madrid received 219.

Talk At Ten is the weekday interview show in Far West Texas, heard Monday through Friday at 10 AM, with a replay at 6:30 PM. This week's guests are (Monday) Jimmy LaBaume, of Sul Ross State University, on conservatism; (Tuesday) art rockers Yeasayer, performing in Marfa; (Wednesday) Lannan Foundation writer-in-residence Arun Gupta, plus another edition in the KRTS Back To Work series, with Daniel Browning of the Marfa Chamber of Commerce; (Thursday) Liz Castillo & Dona Roman, for the new Sul Ross play "Aye, No," plus a preview of the Mineral & Gem Show, with Paul Graybeal & Judith Bruesky; and (Friday) author John DeMers, plus artist Jarrod Beck.

It's another busy week of original talk radio on 93.5 FM.

New Program - Local & Original

Making its debut tonight is the original KRTS program called "Inter-Dimensional Music," locally hosted by David Hollander of Marfa: Sundays, 9 to 11 PM. 

Talk At Ten: Presidio Texas Pioneers Energy Storage

The world's largest sodium sulphur battery will power the entire town of Presidio, Texas when its aging connection to the power grid fails.  Karen Bernstein interviews Larry Jones from AEP and Brad Newton, the City Administrator for Presidio today (April 7, 2010) on Talk at Ten: 10am (repeating at 6:30pm) on KRTS, Marfa Public Radio.
