Alpine, Fort Davis and Marfa marked Memorial Day with prayer and tribute to the men
and women who lost their lives from World War 1 through to Afghanistan and Iraq.
In Fort Davis, money was raised to support disabled veterans and in Marfa, a mournful 'Reading of the Fallen' - naming each person who did not come home - was followed by a haunting rendition of "Taps", a melody that has been an official symbol of loss since 1874.
In all three locations, there were calls to increase healthy care delivery to veterans who carry physical or emotional scars with them every day.
