KRTS listeners in Far West Texas enjoy stargazing under some of darkest skies in the nation. We're also the lucky home of the University of Texas's McDonald Observatory, one of the world’s leading centers for astronomical research, teaching, and public education and outreach. The observatory employs resident astronomers, and hosts visiting researchers from across the globe.

On the last Monday of each month, KRTS’s Talk at Ten now features a conversation with an astronomer from The McDonald Observatory. Listeners can learn about the cutting edge research going on in our own backyard. In the series premier, airing Monday, January 28, we speak with Anita Cochran, a Research Scientist and the observatory's Assistant Director. Talk at Ten airs Monday's after the 10 AM hourly news and Rambling Boy, and replays at 6:30 PM.

Additionally, KRTS Marfa Public Radio also airs StarDate, the observatory's daily radio program, every morning at 10 AM and every evening at 7 PM Stardate airs daily on almost 300 stations.
