This week, the Big Bend Youth Soccer Association is taking steps to recover from a fundraising scandal that cost the organization nearly $2,000. An Alpine resident associated with the group allegedly diverted funds raised from sales of cookie dough and similar products. Almost 100 people and businesses in Alpine were in danger of not receiving the cookie dough they purchased.
Big Bend Soccer responded by making an effort to track down the 99 who gave money. The league assured the public that the victims (PDF list here) would receive their cookie dough, on Saturday (October 27) at Kokernot Park between 12:15 and 1 PM.

About 350 children from Alpine, Marfa, Fort Davis, and Marathon participate in the soccer league. There are 35 teams across 4 age divisions. The season-end tournament is being held Saturday, November 3.
