Emmett McCoy 1923-2012

Emmett McCoy of San Marcos TX died on Friday, January 6, at age 88. He created McCoy Building Supply, a chain of home improvement stores located throughout West Texas. He also founded banking and ranching operations.

He was known in the Big Bend region as a philanthropist, most notably for gifts to the Museum of the Big Bend at Sul Ross State University. The Miriam McCoy Pet Adoption Center in Fort Davis is named for his wife, who survives him, along with a daughter, two sons, nine grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
