UPDATE (3/20/2018 - 10:28 AM)

The Jeff Davis County Sheriff's office have charged a Fort Davis man in the killing of his wife after being identified by his 7-year-old son.

The victim has been identified as Marfa High School teacher Sophia Eleanor Sullivan, 31.

At approximately 6:58 PM on March 16th, Marfa dispatch toned out Jeff Davis County EMS for an unconscious woman at a residence in Fort Davis, according to a statement released by the Jeff Davis County Sheriff's Office.

Upon arrival to the house, deputies made contact with 30-year-old Daniel Merrill Sullivan. Sullivan told officials he arrived home from work when he found his wife dead on the floor. He told officers he then took his son to a neighbor's house, where he contacted 911.

Upon arrival to the scene, Jeff Davis County officials entered the home and found Sophia Sullivan. Officials say Sullivan had suffered "multiple stab wounds on the victim's arms, side, and back."

While the victim's 7-year-old was with the neighbors, he told authorities that his father had killed his mother, Sophia Sullivan. According to officials, the child identified the father on three separate occasions.

While at the Jeff Davis County Sheriff's Office, Daniel Sullivan complied to a swab test, which indicated he had blood on his hands. Sullivan was also given a polygraph test, which he failed.

Daniel Sullivan was arrested on Monday, March 19th and booked in Hudspeth County Jail on a $130,000 bond.
