Friday: 101 Ranch Fire

Brief Friday morning update on the the 101 Ranch Fire, south of Alpine. As of last night, 2,500 acres burned. Fire 30% contained. No structures lost, but about a dozen still threatened.

UPDATE: As of Friday afternoon, the fire had consumed 3,000 acres and was 40% contained. Last night, the fire spread to the Triangle H and Yarborough ranches.  According to Mark Webb, a public information officer for the Texas Forest Service, seven structures were immediately threatened overnight, but, ultimately, were saved. There are still 15 structures threatened in the path of the blaze.

As of 1 PM on Friday, six engines were on the scene from local fire departments and the Texas Forest Service. In the air, the Texas Forest Service along with two helicopters, and four single engine air tankers are fighting the fire. Two hand crews are on the ground, with one additional hand crew arriving tonight, and two others in route.
