Four years ago, on September 14, 2007, KRTS went on-the-air at 93.5 FM and began broadcasting continuously. This radio station is a community resource for Far West Texas, and KRTS especially recognizes the valuable contributions of its many volunteers.
Plus, after a yearlong capital campaign, KRTS will upgrade its signal at 93.5 FM and go to full power. The “Power The Tower” campaign began last Fall, and it culminates this week with it’s 4-Year-Anniversary, when Marfa Public Radio goes to the highest signal power allowed by the FCC, at 93.5 FM.
To celebrate, KRTS Marfa Public Radio invites all listeners to a free, after-work celebration on Friday (September 16), from 4 to 6:30 PM, for its 4th anniversary of continuous broadcasting. The champagne toast will be held at the KRTS Kay Burnett Studios in Marfa at 111 South Highland Avenue in the Community Room, at the back of the radio station.
New Marfa resident Emmelie Brunetti will be the DJ at the event, this Friday, from 4 to 6 PM, at the radio station.
Update: Thank you to everyone who came to the event!
