Happy Holidays from KRTS Marfa! Here’s a rundown of the special programs we have scheduled for today.

10 AM, Tinsel Tales 2: Even More NPR Christmas Favorites –NPR fills millions of homes each holiday with humor, warmth, and a host of festive voices. Continuing with the tradition of the first Tinsel Tales program, this is another collection of the best and most requested holiday stories. Joy, hope, and childhood memories overflow as NPR voices, past and present, tell stories of the season.

11 AM, A Christmas Gift For You From Phil Spector -  The inside story behind this 1963 album featuring performances by The Ronettes, The Crystals, Darlene Love and Bob B. Soxx and the Blue Jeans that raised the bar for pop/rock arrangements of classic holiday songs.  Includes interviews with singers Darlene Love and LaLa Brooks, musicians Nino Tempo, Don Randi and Hal Blaine.  Followed by an hour of your favorite Christmas tunes from the 50's and 60's.

3 PM, Jonathan Winters reads A Christmas Carol – An updated version of a public radio tradition by NPR. Master comedian Jonathan Winters presents a distinctive reading of Dickens’ holiday classic, with a special performing edition prepared by Dickens for his own presentations. Also featuring Mimi Kennedy. From NPR and KCRW.

7 PM to 9 PM, Christmas Anthem – A 2-hour cheerful, cheeky blend of eclectic music matched to the many moods of Christmas. Enjoy new seasonal sounds with host Gini Mascorro.  From KERA/North Texas Public Broadcasting, Inc., serving Dallas and Fort Worth.

9 PM to 11 PM, The Best of the Best: The 2011 Third Coast Festival - Re:sound's Gwen Macsai hosts this year's national broadcast, showcasing the best radio stories of the year - winners of the 2011 Third Coast / Richard H. Driehaus Foundation Competition. Best of the Best also features interviews with winning producers, and highlights from the 2011 TC Awards Ceremony, hosted by Wait, Wait... Don't Tell Me's Peter Sagal.
