More disappointment in the world of Trans-Pecos and Permian Basin football this week, as every team we report on suffered defeat over the weekend.
On Friday, the Marfa Shorthorns (0-2) were outplayed by the Sanderson Eagles (2-0) with a final score of 84-37. The Fort Stockton Panthers (0-2) lost 35-28 to the Lake View Chiefs (1-1). The Van Horn Eagles (0-2) fell to 42-6 to the Slaton Tigers (2-0) as well. On the bright side, all three of these Trans-Pecos teams avoided the shutouts they suffered last week. The Sierra Blanca Vaqueros (1-1) narrowly avoided a similar fate, only scoring a single touchdown in their 52-6 loss against El Paso Homeschool (1-0). The Fort Davis Indians (0-2) also managed to only score once, suffering defeat at the hands of the Lorraine Bulldogs (2-0) with a final score of 52-6.
The Alpine High Bucks (0-2) nearly held their own against the Wink Wildcats (1-1), tying the game and holding the Wildcats scoreless in the 3rd quarter, until they fell behind again in 4th and lost the game with a score of 22-17.
Things weren't much brighter in Permian Basin Eleven-Man football, with the Midland Lee Rebels (1-1) losing 63-14 to the Carrol Dragons (1-1) , and the Permian Panthers (0-2) losing 55-17 to the Frenship Tigers (2-0).
