Texas Monthly Screens Two Texas Films In Marfa This Weekend

rollingroadshow-banner-2

In the June issue of TEXAS MONTHLY, five experts were asked to get together and argue over the ten greatest Texas movies of all time. After a long debate, they settled on a list, which then became the basis of the Alamo Drafthouse’s 2011 Rolling Roadshow. From June 3 to July 1, the Alamo Drafthouse will screen all ten films in unique locations around Texas.

This weekend, the Rolling Roadshow comes to Marfa. On Friday June 24, there will be a screening of Ethan and Joel Coen’s 2007 Oscar Winning film, No Country For Old Men, next to the Riata Inn, just east of Marfa. On Saturday, June 25, Giant screens at the Hotel Paisano, which served as the residence of the cast and crew of Giant throughout the film’s lengthy production in 1955.

Both screenings are free and begin at 9:30 PM. KRTS Marfa Public Radio 93.5 FM is proud to be the local media sponsor for these screenings. Tune in to KRTS’s Talk at Ten program on Thursday, June 23 at 10 AM and 6:30 PM to hear an interview with Texas Monthly editor Jake Silverstein about the Rolling Roadshow.
