Texas Rep. Kel Seliger Seeks Re-election

Texas Senator Kel Seliger announced today he’s seeking re-election.  

The Amarillo Republican represents District 31, which includes 37 counties in the Permian Basin and the Panhandle. The region is one of one of the biggest and most conservative districts in Texas.

Seliger, who serves on the senate higher education committee, has backed policies centered on small government and local control.

In a press release, Seliger said conservative policies were the backbone of the Texas economy. “Texas led the nation out of the recession and has now led America to energy independence. Other states attack the energy industry, but Texans work together.”

Seliger, a former Amarillo mayor faces, two Republican primary challengers. Victor Leal, an amarillo restaurateur and former Midland Mayor Mike Canon.
