Fifty years ago today, Martin Luther King, Jr. delivered his “I Have a Dream” speech at the March on Washington.
To honor that day, listen to a KRTS news report by Natalie Pattillo about Freedom Writer Manny Scott's recent visit to Fort Stockton schools to speak to teachers on the eve of the new school year. Freedom Writers were a group of California students in the 1990s that used diaries and writing as a way to cope with the poverty and crime that surrounded their school. Now a motivational speaker, Scott spoke on his experiences as well as how Martin Luther King, Jr. inspired him.
