Ice Storm in Calamity Creek, November 25, 2013 (Jesse Kelsch)

UPDATE 8:15 PM: Power to North Double Diamond in Calamity Creek.

UPDATE 7:20 PM: Power to South Double Diamond in Calamity Creek.

Wednesday, November 27 - It's the day before Thanksgiving and about 1,000 residents of Far West Texas are out of power. At one point during the storm, more than 7,000 households and businesses were in the dark. Those are the customers of AEP Texas; in addition, many rural customers of Rio Grande Electric are also out of electrical power.

KRTS spoke with Larry Jones of AEP at 3PM on Wednesday.  Jones said AEP anticipates restoration of service for many of the customers still without power by Wednesday evening.

KRTS reporter Lorne Matalon spoke with some of the line mechanics still working on repairing the downed transmission lines. Click here to read that report.
