The Alpine Fightin' Bucks football team had much to be thankful for going into the holiday weekend, namely a district championship and a 9-1 record as they prepared to take on the 8-2 Abernathy Antelopes on Friday (November 23.) However, the Bucks' winning momentum failed to take them past the Area Round of the playoffs, as they lost to the Antelopes 38-26 in Big Spring.
In 6-man postseason play, the Balmorhea Bears grabbed a 66-30 victory over Dawson on Friday, November 16, and a narrow 44-40 victory over the Loraine Bulldogs over the holiday weekend. Grandfalls-Royalty remained undefeated over the two weeks of postseason play, winning against Loop 54-6 on the 16th, before moving on to overtake Robert Lee 34-30 over the holiday.
The Grandfalls-Royalty Cowboys (12-0) will take on the Balmorhea Bears (10-2) in Kermit this Friday, November 30, at 6:30 PM.
