Friday night (September 21) saw another defeat for Fort Davis’ six-man team, with the Indians losing 51-30 against the Eagles in Sanderson, bringing both teams’ records for the season to 2-2. The Marfa Shorthorns (2-2) managed to stay just ahead of Sierra Blanca, beating the Vaqueros (also 2-2) 48-44. The Balmorhea Bears (3-1) pulled a win after the long journey to El Paso, beating Faith Christian Academy (0-4) 48-13.
The Alpine Fightin’ Bucks continued their undefeated streak on Friday, shutting out Anthony and serving up a powerful 69-0 victory for the homecoming crowd. Saturday also proved to be an exciting weekend for Alpine athletics, as the Fightin’ Ladybucks volleyball squad won against Marfa in four sets, with scores of 23-25, 25-10, 27-25 and 25-22.
