The Marfa Lights Festival 5K Run was held on the morning of Saturday, August 31, 2013. Marfa Public Radio was the organizing sponsor of the event, which was hosted by the Marfa Chamber of Commerce.
The overall winner was Kate Greer, with a time of 20:11. The top male finisher was Daniel Plenge, who came in second at 20:41. The fastest young finisher, Beck Salgado (age 13), was third in 20:56. In fourth place was Scott McParland who finished, along with his dog, in 21:50. Joey Benton of Marfa was the fifth racer to cross the line.
There were three dozen runners and walkers. General Manager Tom Michael was the official starter. The start/finish was at the Presidio County courthouse. These are last year's top runners, and these are KRTS images of the parade from 2012.
