As of Saturday, March 5 at 4:45 PM, the 101 Ranch fire was 100% contained, according to Mark Webb of the Texas Forest Service. As of Monday, it is no longer burning. In all, the fire consumed 8,255 acres. No structures were lost.
However, extremely critical fire weather conditions still exist in our area, and burn bans are in effect in counties across West Texas. Additionally, the National Weather has issued a Red Flag Warning for today and Tuesday for all of West Texas and Southeast New Mexico. They’ve issued this warning because of a possibility of 20 foot winds of 25 MPH or greater, combined with minimum relative humidity values of 10% or less. This means very high fire danger for our area, especially on Tuesday.
