KRTS just spoke to Oscar Maestas of the Forestry Service and he announced that - due to smoky conditions & low visibility - Texas Highway 118 is closed from Fort Davis to Alpine until further notice.
Texas Highway 17 is still closed north of Fort Davis to Balmorhea.
UPDATE 7 PM: Texas Hwy 118 is now re-opened between Fort Davis and Alpine.
