Burn outs by the Southern Incident Management Team, April 19, 2011, near McDonald Observatory (Frank Cianciolo/McDonald Observatory)

According to the National Forest Service, the Rock House Fire is still 75% contained, and so far 202,003 acres have burned.

Today crews will again continue to work on the northwest portion of the Fire. Firefighters will prepare the line in anticipation for when the Fire will come out of Little Aguja Canyon. Objectives are to keep the Fire west of Hwy 17, south of Boy Scout Camp Road, east of Madera Canyon, north of McDonald Observatory and Limpia Crossing Subdivision.

The Davis Mountains State Park will remain closed at this time, as firefighters are using it to camp. The McDonald Observatory Visitor Center is open. Travelers are urged to continue to exercise caution with the increase in firefighter traffic and burnout operations.

Critical fire conditions still exist, please be cautious.
