Tribute to Terry Callier Tonight, 8-9 PM

Tune in tonight (Tuesday, October 30) from 8-9 pm for a special tribute to Terry Callier, who passed away over the weekend at the age of 67.

Born in Chicago, Callier was one of the few African Americans who flourished in the folk scene in NYC in the mid-sixties. His debut, The New Folk Sound of Terry Callier, was released in 1968 to rave reviews, and his later work on Chess Records with producer Charles Stepney produced sublime results -- a mix of folk, psychedelic soul, and lush orchestration that was totally unique and unparalleled. His later work, in the modern soul vein, has re-kindled interest in his music around the world.

DJs David Hollander and Dan Chamberlin (of Interdimensional Music) will host a full hour of Callier's music, on the FM dial at 93.5 and streaming worldwide online. For more background on Terry Callier, see this obituary from The Guardian:
