Marfa Public Radio invited the community to celebrate the conclusion of the KRTS Youth Media Project at the Listening Party on Thursday, January 31st at 6:30 pm at the Marfa Book Company.
During December and January, students from Marfa ISD conceived, recorded and produced their own radio stories. From story-boarding and brainstorming to man-on-the-street interviews and ambient sound gathering, students created their stories from the bottom up. Michaela Serrano, Karina Marquez, Marissa Garcia and Eva Guevara each debuted their radio stories.
The evening was truly a multi-media event, with each radio story featuring a video complement, produced by the students in collaboration with local videographer Yoseff Ben-Yehuda.
The stories will air during KRTS's American Graduate Youth Media special, airing during Talk at Ten on Monday, March 18. Many thanks to our merry band of mentors: Jana La Brasca, Brian LeBarton, Ross Cashiola, Cory Lovell, Rachel Monroe, K Yoland, Jo Nevares and Megan Stonelake.
