A light week in football, with many teams across Texas taking the week off.
Starting off in the Trans-Pecos area, the Sierra Blanca Vaqueros beat the Latter Rain Christian Knights 42-39 to win their third straight, setting the Vaqueros record at 4-1. The Fort Davis Indians are still without a win this year, and were crushed this weekend by the Trinity Chargers in Midland, with a final score of 54-6. The Van Horn Eagles suffered a predictable defeat, they went into their game Friday with an 0-5 record against the Iraan Braves who had the opposite record of 5-0. The final score was 54-2. However, one of the local Trans-Pecos teams finally broke their losing streak this weekend. The Marfa Shorthorns took on the Faith Christian Lions on Friday, and eventually won the game 45-38, putting their record at 1-5.
In the Permian Basin, the Monahans Loboes six man team lost against the Canyon Eagles 28-14, setting the Loboes record at 3-2 and keeping the Eagles record at a perfect 5-0. In Permian eleven-man, the Midland Lee Rebels dominated the Odessa Bronchos, taking the game 41-7 and pushing the Rebels' Record up to 4-1. Finally, the Permian Panthers took home their second win of the season in a 38-23 game against the Tascosa Rebels.
Tune in on Friday at noon during Old School and Oldies for a preview of the upcoming weekend games.
