Congratulations to the Sul Ross Lobos this week, who pulled in their first win of the year after 6 straight losses to start their year.
The Lobos came from behind to take down the Hardin-Simmons University Cowboys with a 59 yard pass with 3:12 left in the 4th quarter. The final score in the game was 42-28.
In six man football, several Permian-Basin teams faced off against teams from the Trans-Pecos. The Crane Cranes held on to their perfect record, taking down the Alpine Fightin' Bucks 48-42. The Grandfalls Royalty Cowboys managed to shut out the Sierra Blanca Vaqueros, scoring 56 points along the way. The Fort Stockton Panthers managed to nab their second win of the season, taking down the Mountain View High Lobos 56-21 and bumping the Panthers record up to 2-7.
Meanwhile, some of the other Trans-Pecos teams couldn't hold up against some incredibly tough matchups. The Marfa Shorthorns lost 52-7 to the 9-0 Rankin Red Devils, and the Van Horn Eagles were shut out 40-0 by the 9-0 Iraaan Braves. The Fort Davis Indians also lost to the near perfect 8-1 Garden City Bearkats in a 65-14 game.
Finally, the Midland Lee Rebels and Permian Panthers faced off in a highly anticipated match this weekend. The Panthers eventually went home with the loss, as the Rebels kept up their strong season with a 42-21 win.
Tune in on Friday at noon during Old School and Oldies for a preview of the upcoming weekend games.
