Last summer, former City Manager Chuck Harrington claimed in the very near future, Alpine's train horn would only sound if imminent danger was present. This would establish the railroad town as a quiet zone. In lieu of the horns and for federal safety regulations, medians would be constructed at each crossing so drivers could not weave through the railway arms. Last year, the City said the construction of the safety medians would begin in August 2013.
KRTS' Natalie Pattillo attended last night's City Council meeting to find out the status of the project and the challenges that come with it.
