It looks like old man winter's sticking around West Texas for another day.
The National Weather Service has extended an ongoing Winter Storm Warning stretching from the border to the Permian Basin through 6 a.m. Saturday morning.
Parts of the I-10 and I-20 corridor have seen more freezing rain or mixed rain and ice overnight and early this morning. There's a 60-80% chance for more precipitation across the region throughout today, and it's possible already-frozen roads could get worse before they get better.
The areas around and between Fort Stockton and Midland-Odessa could see up to another 1/4" of ice fall today. East of Midland along I-20, over a 1/4" could fall, and slightly lesser amounts are possible further west and southwest into northern Brewster County and across Reeves County.
New ice accumulation isn't expected for most of Big Bend country, but roads could still be slick, and conditions may vary from one mile to the next.
