Aurcana Silver Exploration Drilling Continues in Shafter Ghost Town

feb-20-2011-22

The Vancouver-based Aurcana Corp. is drilling exploration holes at the company's mineral deposits in Shafter, Texas. Four of six total exploration core holes have been completed. The drilling program tested silver and gold deposits.

Drilling is part of the ramping up of Aurcana’s Shafter Silver Project. The company estimates producing some 11 million ounces of silver over a six-year period, according to its corporate presentation from the start of 2017.

More drilling, mapping, surveys and sampling will be necessary before the mine starts production, later than anticipated. In an interview with Resource Capital AG back in November 2016, Aurcana CEO Kevin Drover said he expected production to begin in late July or August 2017.

Aurcana has invested some $120 million in the Shafter Silver Project.

The once booming mining town of Shafter has seen little mining activity over the last century. The ghost town is located along highway US-67, 21 miles north of the border town Presidio, Texas.
