In football news, the Alpine Fightin' Bucks closed out their regular season play this weekend with a 53-25 victory on Friday over the Bulldogs in Coahoma. This win makes the Bucks champions of their district, with a 9-1 overall record as they head into post-season play.
Six-man football season also came to a close on Friday across the Trans-Pecos, with a powerful 78-14 victory by Balmorhea over Dell City that brings the Bears' record to 8-2 overall. Martin Field in Marfa saw a dramatic season closer with the Marfa Shorthorns pummeling the Fort Davis Indians 74-28. The win, a significant one for the Horns in their first ever season of six-man play, brought Marfa's overall record to 4-6 and left the Indians' at 3-7.
In Marshall, TX on Saturday, Sul Ross finished regular season play with a 50-37 win over East Texas Baptist University, bringing their record to 5-5.
