On Saturday, November 23, the McDonald Observatory announced it was closing due to wintry conditions. It will remain closed until Monday. Friday many area schools closed after a half-day, including Sul Ross State University in Alpine and the schools in Marfa and Fort Davis, plus evening activities for the schools.

The storm is expected to worsen Saturday night through Sunday morning.

Also on Saturday morning, transmission from Marfa Public Radio was interrupted and we're currently diagnosing the situation. Back on-air, after a brief outtage at 8:20 AM.
